Temporary Fillings
Temporary Fillings are done when the cavity of the tooth is deep and that the dentist wants to observe if the tooth will recover from infection before permanent restoration is carried out.
Temporary restorations do not last. They are normally good only for several weeks. It is important to go back to your dentist after the allotted time so that your tooth will be restored permanently.

Root Canal Treatment
When tooth decay becomes extensive that it involves the pulp area with or without abscess while the roots remain intact, root canal is recommended.
Root Canal Therapy is a sequence of treatment for the infected pulp of a tooth. With the use of several endodontic files and irrigating solutions, canals are cleaned, shaped and enlarged. When the canals are ready, it is obturated (filled) with inert filling, sealed and then restored.
Usually a follow up radiograph of the treated tooth is recommended six (6) months after the procedure.

Gum Disease
- gingivitis -
- a milder form of gingival disease that can usually be reversed through proper and regular tooth brushing and flossing and also with regular trips to the dentist for dental check up and oral prophylaxis. This type of gum disease does not include loss of bone and tissue that keeps the tooth in place.
- periodontitis -
- periodontitis means inflammation around the tooth which damages the bones and soft tissues that hold the tooth in place. This is a serious gum infection that when left untreated can increase the risk of stroke, heart attack and other health problems. With periodontitis, the gum and bone recede leaving large pockets. Debris collects in the pockets and infect the area. Bone and connective tissue start to break down then the teeth become loose and can fall out.
- Treatment for mild periodontitis include - scaling with the use of Ultrasonic Scaler; Root planing, smoothing of the root surfaces and a take home of recommended mouth washes and gum toothpaste.
- Treatment for moderate - severe cases would require surgery to restore and regenerate everything in the periodontal structure that has been damaged and lost.
Impacted Tooth
Impacted tooth is a tooth that fails to emerge in proper alignment. Impacted teeth can result to pain, swelling and infection of the surrounding gum tissue. It can also cause permanent damage to nearby teeth and bones. The most common impacted tooth is the third molar (wisdom tooth). Other teeth such as the cuspids and the bicuspids can also become impacted.
The treatment for this case is odontectomy, the surgical removal of the tooth. In our clinic, it is an oral surgeon that performs the surgery by local anesthesia. Sedation is an option and it can be arranged chair side.
Patients to undergo any type of surgery are always assessed. Medically compromised patients are ALWAYS asked to present medical clearance prior to the procedure. It is imperative that surgery patients follow pre and post surgical treatment home instructions care.
Healing usually takes five (5) to seven (7) days after which sutures can be removed.

To receive maximum benefits from flossing, use the following proper technique:
- Starting with about 18 inches of floss, wind most of the floss around each middle finger, leaving an inch or two of floss to work with
- Holding the floss tautly between your thumbs and index fingers, slide it gently up-and-down between your teeth
- Gently curve the floss around the base of each tooth, making sure you go beneath the gumline. Never snap or force the floss, as this may cut or bruise delicate gum tissue
- Use clean sections of floss as you move from tooth to tooth
- To remove the floss, use the same back-and-forth motion to bring the floss up and away from the teeth
